Next steps..

The following further explorations can be done to boost the current analysis and research:

• More zoomed in analysis of the changes in shortest distance around the closed schools to understand which paths may be contributing to longer distances for students in 2025. Recommendations may be given to build more walking paths and increase accessibility based on this.

• Perform shortest distance analysis and accessibility analysis for secondary schools & JCs as well. Can look into the ease of access to MRT, LRT and bus stops from secondary schools and JCs, as quite a number of students from secondary schools and JCs take public transport to schools. 

• Further understanding into the social and economic effects of school mergers on the community can be done to understand how deeply students and their families are affected by these changes.
